Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO)
The Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) is responsible for leading the integrated strategy, development, and operation of the International Carbon Registry’s digital products, technology infrastructure, and data systems. The CPTO ensures that technology and product development align with the strategic objectives of the ICR program, support operational efficiency, maintain high levels of security and data integrity, and deliver high-quality user experiences for registry participants and stakeholders.
Product and Platform Strategy Leads the development and execution of the product and platform strategy for the ICR registry and related digital services. Ensures that product development aligns with the organization’s strategic goals, market needs, and evolving requirements of carbon markets, climate standards, and international frameworks.
Technology Strategy and Architecture Develops and oversees the implementation of the organization’s technology strategy, ensuring that the technological infrastructure, software architecture, and digital systems effectively support the ICR program, registry operations, and future scalability.
Product Development and Lifecycle Management Oversees the full product development lifecycle, from concept and design to implementation, launch, and continuous improvement. Coordinates cross-functional teams involved in software development, product design, data management, and system operations.
Registry Technology and Data Management Ensures the reliability, accuracy, accessibility, and integrity of data stored within the ICR registry. Oversees registry architecture, blockchain integrations where applicable, system interoperability, and secure management of registry accounts, transactions, and carbon credit information.
Cybersecurity and System Integrity Implements and maintains robust security measures to protect the registry infrastructure, digital assets, and sensitive data from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and operational risks.
Innovation and Technological Development Leads research and development of new technological solutions and tools to enhance ICR’s capabilities in project registration, monitoring, reporting, validation, verification, credit issuance, and market transparency. Promotes innovation and continuous improvement within the technology and product teams.
User Experience and Customer Interface Oversees the design and implementation of user experience (UX) and customer experience (CX) strategies to ensure that the registry platform and related tools meet the needs of project developers, market participants, auditors, and other stakeholders.
Market and Product Insights Monitors market trends, regulatory developments, and stakeholder needs in carbon markets and climate finance to inform product strategy, digital services, and platform evolution.
Vendor and Technology Partnerships Coordinates with external technology vendors, software providers, and infrastructure partners to ensure that the necessary technical resources and services are available to support product development, platform operations, and system security.
Technical Compliance and Program Alignment Ensures that technological systems and processes comply with applicable standards, including relevant IT, data security, and program requirements. Works closely with program leadership to ensure that the registry infrastructure supports the implementation of ICR program rules, methodologies, and procedures.
