Summary:

M-ICR015 – Impact Improved Forest Management (IIFM) provides criteria and procedures for quantifying, monitoring, and verifying GHG emission reductions and removal enhancements from improved forest management activities in managed forests.

The methodology uses a country module structure and may only be applied where an approved country module is available for the host country. The methodology currently includes modules for Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.

The methodology compares a climate optimized project scenario with a conservative dynamic baseline scenario using forest inventory data, yield tables, treatment groups, sustainable best practice harvest rates, historical calibration, and regional common practice calibration.

The methodology includes procedures for additionality, leakage, monitoring, uncertainty, permanence, non-permanence events, and ex-post quantification of GHG emission reductions and removal enhancements.

The methodology started the ICR methodology approval process as version 1.3. Following public consultation, ICR review, methodology revisions, and further stakeholder feedback, the methodology has been updated. The current version under development is M-ICR015 v2.2.
