The ICR program relies on the robust ISO 14064-2 Greenhouse gases - Part 2: Specification with guidance at the project level for quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emission reductions or removal enhancements, as criteria for projects registering with the ICR.

In addition to ISO 14064-2, the ICR requirement document is the backbone of the ICR program. It provides the requirements that projects registered with ICR need to conform to.
