# June 2026

### Launch of Public Consultation – M-ICR015

The International Carbon Registry (ICR) has initiated a renewed public consultation for methodology [M-ICR015 – Impact Improved Forest Management (IIFM)](https://documentation.carbonregistry.com/documentation/icr-program/public-consultation/methodologies/2026/m-icr015-v2.2), developed by Pina Earth.

M-ICR015 provides procedures for quantifying, monitoring, and verifying GHG emission reductions and removal enhancements from improved forest management activities in temperate and boreal forests. The methodology applies a conservative baseline approach using forest inventory data, treatment group classification, sustainable best-practice harvest rates, historical calibration, regional common-practice calibration, and country-specific implementation modules.

The methodology was previously made available for public consultation in October–November 2025. Following that consultation and further review under the ICR methodology approval process, the methodology developer submitted an updated version of the methodology. ICR is therefore initiating a new public consultation to allow stakeholders to review and comment on the revised methodology before it proceeds to validation and further ICR review.

The updated methodology includes revisions to several key components, including baseline determination, treatment groups, country modules, additionality, leakage, permanence, monitoring, quantification procedures, and the distinction between GHG emission reductions and removal enhancements.

The public consultation period runs from 30 June 2026 to 30 July 2026.

ICR invites stakeholders, technical experts, project developers, validation and verification bodies, forest carbon specialists, and other interested parties to review the methodology and submit comments during the consultation period.

A public consultation webinar will be held on 9 July 2026 at 11:00 CEST / 9:00 GMT.
