Introduction

Irrespective of the origin or approval status of an applied methodology, module, or tool, project proponents shall ensure full conformity with the current version of the ICR Requirement Document including normative references and ISO 14064-2.

Where any provision, criterion, procedure, methodological approach, baseline determination, additionality demonstration, monitoring requirement, permanence provision, leakage treatment, or quantification rule contained in an applied methodology, module, or tool is inconsistent with or less stringent than the current ICR Requirement Document, the ICR Requirement Document shall take precedence.

In such cases, the project proponent shall apply the relevant requirement of the ICR Requirement Document and clearly document how the inconsistency has been resolved.

Approval or listing of a methodology, module, or tool under the ICR Program does not imply exemption from compliance with updated or revised ICR program requirements.

[1] Projects applying CDM methodologies shall be pre-registered before 30. June 2026 and complete validation before 31. December 2026 due to phase out of CDM and transition to PACM.

[2] When a methodology exist both undier PACM and CDM, the PACM methodology supersedes the CDM methodology.

[3] This sectoral scope covers processes to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere through anthropogenic activities and durably store them. It also covers anthropogenic activities removing CO2 from the atmosphere and durably storing it in geological, terrestrial, or ocean reservoirs, or in products and it includes existing and potential anthropogenic enhancement of biological, geochemical or chemical CO2 sinks, but excludes natural CO2 uptake not directly caused by human activities.
