Bio

Alvaro Vallejo Rendรณn, a Colombian expert in tropical forestry and biodiversity markets leads the ICR Pilot Biodiversity Program.

With over 34 years of experience, Alvaro is renowned for his expertise in forest management, carbon project development, and biodiversity conservation and restoration.

Alvaro holds a master's degree in forest management and biodiversity conservation and has worked extensively in Latin America and Africa. His expertise spans forest management, modeling, forest carbon project development (including CDM, REDD+, Verra, and Cercarbono) and biodiversity crediting.

Before joining ICR, Alvaro served as both Carbon Program Director and Biodiversity Program Director at Cercarbono, where he led methodological developments for carbon and biodiversity projects. He also directed the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) regional office for South America and worked as a consultant for the World Bank's BioCarbon Fund and the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility.

Alvaro's wealth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable in advancing ICR's biodiversity initiatives and promoting sustainable forest management practices globally.
