The International Carbon Registry is launching a public consultation and requesting input regarding a core document titled ICR validation and verification specifications.
The purpose of these specifications is to offer a clear path toward streamlined and consistency in project assessment. This document outlines the prerequisites and processes for Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) associated with the ICR to effectively conduct validation and verification procedures for both independent project activities and multiple project activities.
Although this consultation is primarily intended for consultation with VVBs it invites other stakeholders to comment on the proposed new core document to the ICR program intended to deliver climate action at the scale, pace, and integrity needed to support global climate ambitions.
We welcome input on proposed ICR validation and verification specifications that could improve the usability of the ICR program, such as clarifications of requirements that may cause differences in interpretation between project proponents and validation/verification bodies. These comments will help inform the language of the proposed revision.
The consultation will end on 24. August 2023 [1].
