Bio
Dr. Rannveig joined ICR as Chief Scientific Officer. In this role, she will lead the development, management, and operation of the ICR Program, ensuring alignment with the company's mission. She will oversee the strategic direction of scientific initiatives, maintaining the highest standards of integrity, rigor, and transparency in carbon offset projects.
Prior to her currency role, she held a senior management position in Sustainability & Climate at Deloitte, where she provided carbon offset advisory services for technical and nature-based projects. Dr. Rannveig moreover provided consultancy services for corporate decarbonization journeys through SBTi and managed the Sustainability Climate team on a daily basis.
Dr. has been a member of Plan Vivo technical panel and on Puro Earth's Ocean Storage Biomass Working group. Dr. Rannveig is currently a member of the EU Soil Observatory's Technical Working Group on Carbon, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification.
Prior to Deloitte, Dr. Rannveig was a Project Manager at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, overseeing national monitoring projects on biodiversity in conservation areas in Iceland. Dr. Rannveig likewise managed budgets, facilitated national collaborations, and ensured data integrity and stakeholder engagement.
In Dr. Rannveig earlier career, Dr. Rannveig was an environmental consultant at Verkís Consulting Engineers, assisting major Icelandic companies in developing environmental management plans and conducting field assessments.
Dr. Rannveig was moreover a Scientific Project Officer at the European Commission's (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC) from 2011 to 2014 were she integrated Iceland into the EC soil datacenter and gave support to EU policy, notably in the revision of the Fertilizer Regulation. Dr. Rannveig represented the EC in international collaborations with the IAEA, FAO, and Arctic Council.
She began her academic career at the Agricultural University of Iceland, where she served as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Lecturer in Soil Science, conducting research on nutrient dynamics and supervising students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Dr. Rannveig holds a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices, consistently advancing the field of soil science and climate policy through their varied roles and expertise.
